The Road to Nairobi was officially launched in Cyprus on 2-3 December 2003 at an event that featured the participation of 1997 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Williams. However, the dialogue to prepare for the Nairobi Summit commenced in June 2002 and has involved a series of key informal and formal preparatory meetings.
